Home / Inventory & replenishment
Enter demand, replenishment time, safety factor and container to get the number of cards, maximum inventory, supermarket area, container weight and the gain over today’s stock.
Pre-sizing and estimating tool: results do not replace design, calculations or reports signed by a licensed professional, nor verification against the applicable codes and standards.
Shortening replenishment is what most reduces cards and inventory.
Gross weight for each quantity per container, with the reference limit for manual lifting.
Cash flow of the improvement: investment in year 0 and annual savings escalated at the rate entered, discounted at the MARR.
The report gathers this page's inputs, results, equations, assumptions and references, with fields for project, engineer and revision. In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF.
Multiply daily demand by replenishment time and by the safety factor and divide by container capacity, rounding up. With 600 parts/day, 1.5 days, 15% and 50 parts per bin, you need 21 cards.
Between 10% and 30% is common at the start. With levelled demand and reliable replenishment it can be reduced gradually, pulling cards and watching whether the supermarket runs empty.
The NIOSH lifting equation starts from 51 lb (23 kg) under ideal conditions; twisting, long reach or high frequency lower the recommended limit.
